Go Where Guided

Let’s give up control and go where guided. A friend of mine owns a giant horse ranch in Texas. One day, they said:

I want to show you my favorite spot in the world. It’s something very few people in the world will ever experience.

I love a new adventure. We saddled the horses and rode for a long time before my friend said: “Stop here.”

I looked around. It wasn’t the most beautiful view, but I was glad the horses had a chance to rest. I didn’t notice anything spectacular until my friend explained:

Look at this. You can see from horizon to horizon to horizon to horizon with no human objects anywhere.

I slowly twirled a full 360 degrees. The full panoramic view was astonishing. Words can’t describe the feeling.

Rural Texas is flat enough to see every horizon – in every direction – completely unobstructed. There wasn’t a road, a building, a sign, an electrical wire, or any evidence of human existence. No planes flew overhead, and our footprints quickly disappeared into a soft wind.

We were alone and quiet in an infinite expanse.

I could only take in this new experience for a short time before fear controlled my thoughts. I asked:

“How do we get back? Isn’t it easy to get turned around and lost?”

My friend laughed and said that was the fun of it.

Imagine. You can go anywhere and be anything. That’s the beauty of this moment. There are no wrong moves. We can go anywhere we choose.

I was still anxious and quickly replied:

But, how do we choose?

Control = Fear

Are you ready to drop the reins?

My friend said this is why they trust animals more than humans.

Animals always know the way. We think we control these horses. We don’t.

Let go of all control and just go where guided.

People would be so much happier if they would just go where guided.

We saddled up and dropped the reins. My friend was right. As soon as we let go of control, all we could do was enjoy the ride.

I wasn’t anxious anymore. I learned to trust in a power greater than myself.

Epilogue

Years later, I met my friends Eric and Yolanda Bucher. Eric’s full story is inspiring. After decades of living in control dramas, he found his own way to Go Where Guided.

Eric discovered pure joy in the infinite expanse of life by teaching:

Faith Comes First.

Even if you don’t share his same religious or spiritual beliefs, Eric’s story is a living example of how we can learn to let go of the reins and completely give up control. Your faith must come first.

Let’s give up control and go where guided together. Find your faith and enjoy the ride!
