Immersive Experiences

Let’s follow the Sun. My travels last week took me to one of the most beautiful places on Earth, and I became fully immersed in the experience. 

When traveling to new lands, I always hire a local guide to find the spots unpublished, untouched, and unknown by tourists. It’s a pricey venture that always pays off in unexpected ways. 

The plan was to meet my local guide at 12 NOON at a location that could not be put into the GPS. The directions included unmarked turns and landmarks only locals would know. When I became inevitably lost, my local guide gave me only one direction:

Follow the Sun.

Did I mention our meeting time was high noon?

I tossed my scribbled directions into the back seat and trusted my human intuition to figure out what my mind couldn’t comprehend. 

Fate picked the perfect guide for this Unplanned backpack adventure. In all my previous travel experiences, the local guide would literally walk us every step of the way to beautiful destinations and experiences. This time, my local guide pointed to possibilities and then left. 

I got lost a few times and then found my way.

After spending time alone in the spectacular old growth forest of Canada’s first National Park, I now know this local guide was brilliant. No matter how lost we feel, it all works out when we follow the Sun.
